Happy early Halloween from the Switchblades!

Check out my best bud, Nic. She has amazing style and an even more inspiring blog. It's just photos, but she finds some really obscure ones and scours magazines for hours. Keep up on her blog as she updates frequently.

“There are men who fight one day and they are good. There are others who fight one year and they are better. There are those who fight many years and they are very good. But there are those who fight a lifetime: those are the ones who are indispensable.”

Today I spent most of my day shopping around in hopes to be a bit more inspired in my dressing. I have a tendency to not follow the trends, but to take new things each season to add to my collection of clothes. I have spent enough time experimenting and I am happy to say I finally understand what works for me. Unfortunately this city has been seeming so unoriginal as of late. I swear every time I walk down the street or go out I see some stupid girl in a flannel, some denim shorts, tights and stripper shoes. Ah, not so inspiring to me. I went to the usual suspects, H&M, Urbz, etc. and couldn't help but feel that I was surrounded exactly by 'that girl'. I've been rockin' my flannel since my days of listening to hard core and baby doll dresses. Sorry, that girl, I will not be joining you with the stripper heels. Ya heard?

I love the shade of this Clu dress. I can picture wearing this roughed up with a leather jacket and Rodarte-esque tights.

Available at La Garconne.

I am in love with these boots from the Isabel Marant show. I wasn't aware that she actually started producing her own line of shoes that are available at Satine and Creatures of Comfort. I heard they sell out immediately which is a bummer cause I don't have the money to spend on these right now.

Reason # 10908098 I dislike Fashionista. This Slow and Steady Wins the Race bag has been out for like ever and they are just getting to post under the 'Adventures in Copywrights' category. If they are, as they claim, to be on top of all things fashion I would hope that this bag would have been on their radar a while ago.

I tried on this Henrik Vibskov blazer a few weeks ago and fell madly in love. Unfortunately (or fortunately) for me, it didn't come in my size.

Available at Oak.

Last week in an attempt to keep myself from being bored, I tried my best at making my own Alexander Wang knock off. Far from perfect, but you get the idea. It's a little too crafty looking for me with the hand stitches, crafty is definitely not my thing. I want to bring my mom's sewing machine from home but I'm afraid it won't fit in my car.

I'm generally unenthusiastic about any new music but I really love this song by Lykke Li. Maybe I'm just mesmerized by her Julianne Moore looks and crazy moves.

Due to my clumsiness, I have always said I am the girl that can never wear white. Its pretty safe to say I'll never have a white wedding. For some reason lately I have been really drawn to wearing white flowy things. I dont have much, so I have been wearing the same things over and over but changing up various elements of my outfit. This is what I wore today for lunch with a friend and a day spent at the computer doing freelance gigs. Despite the bluriness of the one photo, I love it.

Spent the weekend hanging with friends in Park Slope and the LES. Apparently some dude thought that it was ok to wear his hair in a high pony tail with a clip in the back. The picture really doesn't do it any justice. Saturday was spent at a Farmers Market and walking in Central Park, actually nice considering the weather was amazing. Saturday evening was filled with all things Madonna. The show was amazing and super politically charged. I love her, and I really love it when she screams things like "Safe Sex Motherfuckers" and calls the audience "pussies".

Taylor Tomasi from Teen Vogue is one of my faves. I love her hair and she always has killer accessories. This one being no exception, the lace skirt or dress she has on here is amazing. I've been looking for a vintage piece like this for some time but have not had any luck. I'll keep searching...

Loving these Belle shoes, they are similar to my Chloe triple strap flats that I wear constantly. I have been meaning to find another pair but if I don't have any luck these could definitely work.

I broke out this 3.1 coat last night and biked all over town. It is one of my favorite pieces ever but it can be a little hard to wear cause I have to make a point not to make it look too "Thriller". Hopefully this will get a lot of wear this fall. Yay fall!

I find it very interesting that a handful of shows had hair as part of the elements. It makes me think that they all get together before designing their collections and have a little pow wow.

I love the matte black finish on this watch. I have been searching for a good watch for a while now and since I can't afford the Hermes Medor watch, this might have to do.
